Customer Reviews & Ratings
So glad to be able to have clay pot in the Bay Area! It took a while for the dishes to be served, but it was worth it. The soup, the rice, and the bean sprouts were all delicious. The place felt cozy and had nice decorations. Service was decent.
We ordered the Chinese Sausage with Yellow Eel, Pork Spareribs, and a Stir-Fried Choi Sum. The eel was cooked well--not chewy or rubbery--and had great seasoning. The pork spareribs were a bit on the chewy side but still enjoyable. The Chinese sausage was good but nothing particularly standout. The rice in all dishes was well-seasoned, which made for a solid overall experience. The stir-fried choi sum was a nice side, with a good garlic flavor and not overly oily. While the food itself might lean closer to a 3.5-star experience, the fact that this place specializes in authentic clay pot rice--something hard to find in the Bay Area--earns it that extra star. Worth a visit for clay pot rice lovers!
Can't wait to have this again! The Eel claypot rice was so fragrant and tasty. It's definitely one of my favorite dishes. The pork patty with salted fish was also 10/10
Omg I love clay pot rice and this place reminded me of my childhood, eating at my parents home. The flavors of the meat seeping into the rice, with the perfect gold brown crispy bottom hit the spot! Would love to come here frequently. Service was pretty quick and they were very accommodating for our big group. The inside was very clean and well maintained as well!
Came here as a group of 6 on a Sunday afternoon. We waited for about 15mins and one of the server came out and let us know that we could be seated right now if we want, and they'll add a smaller table for us when it opens up. I really appreciate the fact that they tried to get us seated asap, as it was pretty chill today. I forgot to take pics today, but the pics attached are from the previous times when I came with my boyfriend. Their chicken mushroom clay pot is always good, with or without the Chinese sausage. The chicken is always pretty tender. The yellow eel is kind of a hit or miss. We've gotten it twice now, and the last time we had it, the yellow eel was on the fishier side.
Super comforting and delicious. I came here with my family as a party of 4, and we ordered 4 varieties of regular size clay pot rice to try and share. The clay pot rice is made to order and takes 15 minutes. Our favorites were the chicken, lapcheong and mushroom, and the pork patty clay pot rice. My mom said that the pork patty one reminded her of my grandpa's cooking :') We also ordered the eel and frog legs clay pots, however we found the eel to be bland but the frog legs were very tender. Everything was suuuper yummy and the bottom of the rice was very crispy. We were glad that the dishes didn't turn out to be super salty and glad that we were able to add sauce to our taste. I found a new favorite place for comfort food now!
Went here for a quick bite with a friend and loved it! I've never had clay pot before but this was a treat. We shared a large sausage and spare rib clay pot but to be honest the portion was so generous we could've definitely shared a regular. The service was quick and efficient and the food was delicious, so I would definitely recommend coming here for a lunch with a friend.
Fong Kee has been my go to spot whenever my family and I are craving for some delicious clay pot rice! I would say this is the best clay pot rice place in the entire Bay Area. I've been here a couple of times and I always leave happy. The clay pot rice is super fragrant with a crispy golden bottom. Perfect amount of topping to rice ratio. My favorite is the eel with chinese sausage! It is super healthy and filling. I also really like the pork patty one which reminds me of what my grandma makes for me when I was a child. Service is standard and quick. It does take about 15-20 minutes for the claypot. The restaurant does get pretty busy during the weekend so prepare to have a small wait. Overall, 100% would recommend! All my friends that I took here also loves it!
As a canto girlie myself, the claypot was delicious here! We got the chicken + sausage and the beef (+ we added an egg). Our favorite was definitely the chicken + sausage. The rice was fragrant and not burnt, but perfectly crisp. The beef pot definitely needed some soy sauce or the egg added. I appreciate the amount of ginger and toppings for the beef one though! Two personal (small) pots was plenty to share between two hungry people haha. The service here was great too. They would check on our table and fill our water cups often even though they were closing in less than an hour. Tables were well spaced and the inside of the restaurant was super clean and cozy. You also get a little plate of pickles once you sit down :) Five stars, but one nitpicky thing is that we would love if the egg was on top of the beef instead of off to the side.
Surprised to see a clay pot restaurant. They have a lot of different toppings and herbal soups to choose from. The good: -As soon as you sit down they bring out utensils and pickles -Piping hot clay pot rice made to order -Food didn't take long to make -Two portions sizes: large or personal size personal size was still good enough to share and they didn't skimp on the protein which is good -Clean restaurant The okay: They only had 1 of 6 soups available and it was early dinner too so not sure how they ran out etc. Veggies are pretty expensive $18 per dish, almost as much as the rice. Service was ok hard to get their attention even though there were three of them and it wasn't busy.
